Confluence Business Advisors work with entrepreneurs who have a dream, and help turn the business dream into reality. We focus on the business side of the dream, the plan, the “how to’s”; the financial recording, the understanding of the numbers, and helping with business succession.
Confluence Business Advisors is the new name for Collin Young Consulting and MY Bookkeeper, and works collaboratively with COLLIN YOUNG CPA, Chartered Professional Accountant. We are based out of Whitehorse Yukon.
The principals are Collin Young CPA, CA and Marilyn Young CPB, married for over 32 years and supported by key staff.
Collin was raised in Whitehorse from the age of 6 yrs and showed early signs of being “good with numbers” helping his father ring in sales at Taylor, Drury & Young. It was no surprise to those who knew him that he entered the profession of accounting. He has worked with a variety of clientele: family owned businesses and entrepreneurs, government corporations, a private university, a regional hospital, research and development entities, a small publicly traded mineral exploration company, various public sector entities, and US based clients. Collin also served as the Chair, Audit Committee of a government owned development corporation, and was actively involved in developing the corporation’s long-term strategy for clean, green, renewable energies. He is a proud sponsor and volunteer of many different community organizations and sports teams; The Yukon River Quest, Habitat for Humanity, The Yukon Quest, The Rotary Club of Whitehorse and RYLA (Russian, Alaska, Yukon- District Chair) to name a few.
Marilyn grew up in a family legacy of educators and realized her own passion for teaching by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in education. She loves to empower business owners through teaching the basics and bridging the distance to financial literacy. Marilyn received her training through Collin, learning bookkeeping, financial reporting, and working with external financial auditors. She later obtained her Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) accreditation and keeps up to date with the current technologies in financial reporting. Her work extends to family-owned businesses, Boards and Committees set up under the Umbrella Final Agreement, First Nation controlled business ventures, and Not-For Profits.
Where appropriate, we gather a team who work collaboratively for our customers; legal advisers, income tax specialists, investment advisers, insurance brokers and business valuators, to name a few.
Together, with our team of dedicated staff and talented specialist, we form the confluence to help business owners succeed.
